Artist Gabriella Di FeolaSound designer Susanne Hanssonchild remains is an immersive installation consisting of a performance, a physical component, a virtual VR component and a sound piece. These different parts interact in their exploration of the history of grief at the Lilla Änggården museum. The installation and the museum tell the story of the Grén family, who lived at Lilla Änggården during the 19th century. The piece brings forward aspects of the family’s story that are less visible in established historical narratives. The family left behind very little about their experience of losing three of their children, and few stories about the children have been preserved. In the absence of stories, what is there to tell? This exploration is intertwined with contemporary experiences of losing a child, through Di Feola’s experience of losing a daughter and the experiences of other parents who have lost children.
